Our SSCo's:
Their duties:
The SSCo's (school sports co-ordinators) are committed to increase learning & sporting opportunities across the 67 schools in our SSP. They are based at a secondary school for two days per week and work with their family cluster Primary Schools to assist in hitting targets based from the Government's service agreement & supporting the schools.
Many of our SSCo's have two secondary schools to look after within their role. Their typical week may be spent supporting one secondary & its cluster for two days, then the SSCo is based at their other secondary for a further 2 days supporting that school & its cluster primaries/infants. They take on extra duties within their role and many work the fifth day working on CPD, leadership, training and assisting learning through physical education.
Youth Sport Trust has adopted different models to engage a teacher as an SSCo. Across the country many SSCo's would teach on the curriculum for three days and complete their duty as an SSCo for two days. Gloucester City & South Tewkesbury SSP have taken a different model with many of its SSCos.
